November brings many things to the gym atmosphere. Cooler temps, new faces, harder programming with the Open approaching, and a brand new winner of the NMCF Athlete of the Month. One person has really stood out to me for the past few months. She is one of my favorite athletes to train because she is always willing to try something new, she has become one of our most consistent hard working athletes of late and has made tremendous strides in all aspects of her training.
I am priveleged to announce Jess Layman is our newest athlete of the month. Jess typically works out at 5:30 am which is hard enough already and that shows serious dedication. Then she usually goes straight to her job as a nurse working long hours. Jess has a great personality and I can truly appreciate how she sometimes likes to cuss like a sailor during a hard wod. @#*%!!!!! It has been exciting to see her grow as an athlete since she finally embraced the consistency it takes to improve. Sometimes I am not sure whether Jess really accepts that she is a gifted athlete but we as a staff recognize it. Jess will jump into a cross fit comp when asked to, and she enjoys tough mudders and even recently completed the Columbus half marathon which is quite an accomplishment.
No Mercy is proud to have you as a member Jess! Congratulations on the award, and see Joe or Holly to claim your award. Keep working hard Jess, it has paid off.
